About Us

The Washington Area State Relations Group (WASRG) is one of the nation’s largest organizations dedicated exclusively to serving state government relations professionals.  Since the mid-1970s, WASRG has been providing its corporate, trade association and public sector members with a unique and valuable opportunity to interact with their peers, key state officials and public policy experts.

WASRG maximizes member interaction and promotes a continuous exchange of ideas and information.  WASRG promotes educational and networking opportunities for busy professionals who work as lobbyists, association staff, government affairs executives and vendor/service representatives.

Programs and Activities

WASRG’s signature luncheons provide an outstanding forum where members and guests convene to exchange ideas, discuss issues and share news from the states. Guest speakers -- primarily policymakers or public officials with a connection to the states -- give their perspective on topical and political issues of interest to our members.

WASRG’s popular social events – including happy hours, the popular annual reception at the NCSL Annual Summit and an annual holiday party – provide a valuable networking forum for members and guests.

WASRG is a leader in virtual programming, having hosted over 60 virtual events since 2020.

Our "Inside the Dome" series invites in-state contract lobbyists to share intel on legislative sessions, elections and political dynamics with WASRG members. These events are exclusive and FREE to members.

Our virtual programming also includes topical events, with panels covering topics like consumer privacy, employee liability, budget deep-dives and election forecasting.
